Dear Mum,

I know this is late. I didn’t want to write you before I had some big news to share. Doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about you! (I included the notes I’ve written you over the weeks so you can catch up.) I bet you can guess what I waited on!

Yes, it finally happened! Though it took them long enough! Dad still couldn’t let loose right away. That’s okay, Adam made up for it. So when we got in to Sydney, Dad was still worried about what he was going to do with me. Adam just rolled his eyes and pulled me along to the club—ignoring Dad’s protests. (Me and Adam make a good team.) I get to watch the shows and help with the lights since Dad doesn’t want me sitting on my own. Sometimes he’ll even let me sit backstage. Adam makes fun of me for “acting so innocent” so that everyone goes out of their way to entertain me. Dad’s just happy he’s not in trouble, I think.

Anyway, one of Adam’s friends had a niece visiting—she’s a couple years older than me—so I got to go over to Sasha’s house and meet Judy. I stayed over at the house the other night since Sasha took us to a drive-in movie! (I think Adam conspired with him, ‘cause Sasha was grinning when he waved Dad away.) When I was dropped home the next day I had to use my key to get in. I knew something was up, so I quietly went to the bedroom to find Dad. Can’t say I wasn’t a little surprised to find Adam tiptoeing around the room in a towel with a grin on his face. I must have giggled because he turned around to look at me and shooed me out, turning red! Can you imagine?

I made myself breakfast and waited. I think they were arguing because suddenly the door slammed and Adam came into the kitchen looking irritated. I gave him my orange juice. I don’t think he really wanted it, but I left him holding it and went back to the bedroom. I like Adam, and Dad was just being silly! So I went into the room and told Dad just that. He got that funny, surprised look you like and couldn’t seem to finish a sentence. When I walked back into the hall, Adam was standing there waiting and started to laugh. He picked me up and kissed my cheek, swung me around, and set me back down. He’s calling me his “Little Matchmaker” and (much to Dad’s annoyance) the others backstage have started calling me the same.

Well, school’s starting in a few weeks. I’m going to the same place Judy goes, so I’ll still get to see her even though her parents are back. Dad says he’s not letting Adam anywhere near the school. I don’t think that’s going to turn out the way he thinks.

That’s the news I really wanted to share! Adam’s mum gave me a camera so I’ll try and get pictures soon. Adam’s already planning how to surprise Dad so I can get funny shots. I hope you’re enjoying your holiday!

Love you lots!

Benji
