“Why are you so pessimistic?”

“I’m trying to be realistic,” he answers tiredly. This argument is old.

“When we get to the heart of this, you just don’t think I can make it!” he insists, hurt coloring his voice and pinching his face. “Damn you, Josh!”

Josh is too tired to fight. “Don’t you get it, Sam? It’s not because of you!” But Sam refuses to listen anymore, he hurts too much and all he can hear is the absence of faith in his lover’s voice.

Josh still tries. “I don’t trust the world to be ready for you.”
