“Our second year doesn’t seem to be going a whole lot better than our first, does it?” Josh stared at the condemning memo he had been handed.

“No,” Toby said, any remaining spark from the Mendoza confirmation long gone with the day’s arrival of meetings about gays in the military, nominations for the FEC, and the latest disaster of Mandy’s scalding memo.

Josh couldn’t make out any of the words on the page, he only knew that they were going to open gaping wounds that would be difficult to close. The worst of it was, he knew Mandy was right.
